About Bisou

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: White with Tan, Yellow or Fawn
  • Owner Experience Needed: Breed

It took 13 days for him to even come near people. 21 days for him to be able to go out and come in without being carried. Another 11 days before he would just follow his foster outside and go to the bathroom in less than an hour... and back inside without standing by the door barking for a half hour. 60 days into our journey and he sits calm in the tub while getting a bath and all0ws you to clean his paws. Every morning we're up by 6 and we spend an hour outside...practicing 'touch', hiding and seeking treats, getting used to new sounds and new things. He doesn't hesitate by the doorway at all, he usually happily follows his foster right out and happily follows her back in and he does his business mostly within 15 minutes. He does have setbacks now and then and most recently, it took over 4 hours of being out with him to get him in.  Bisou needs someone with a flexible schedule who can work with him if he has setbacks.  He loves his treats. He's amazing with all other dogs, big and small and would do best in a home with another dog. For having zero socialization its astonishing he's come so far. He's one of the most gentle dogs ever, and he's one of the goofiest. When he runs he runs sideways in this awkward gallop. The first time he saw his reflection in the sliding glass doors he tried to stick his head through the closed door to see 'the other guy'. When he's groomed shorter he almost looks white. When his coat is a little longer you can see the gorgeous apricot color that melts into the white and fawn. He is as gorgeous inside as he is out. He'll make the most loyal companion for the right person(s). It may not take 60 days the next time....or it may. But I can tell you this...it will be the best 60 days.  He may adapt or he may not and may revert to old behaviors.  Bisou will need patience and an experienced pet parent(s) who won't force progress on him, rather take his que as to what feels comfortable. That means building trust...and building trust takes time... A fenced yard is an absolute must. Loud noises and quick movements still scare him. As such we don't recommend a home with small/young children.  As he's coming out of his shell he can get excited and jumpy.  He's crate trained but not fully housetrained yet. He's working on it.  We feel Bisou would do best in a home with another dog.

Bisou is neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. He's about 15 months old.. Local adopters only as we need to be able to support any training needs and multiple meetings.

Bisou is a very special, very beautiful work in progress. Please only apply if you are fully committed and meet all of the criteria above.
